December Plans

December is my favorite month of the year, and this year it's extra special. Also, extra busy. So without further ado, my to-do list:
  • Find awesome job that will blow my socks off and leave me rolling in moolah. (but I'll settle for one that pays the bills, makes my father happy and doesn't require me selling my soul)
  • Plan and execute awesome birthday party for boyfriend and best friend.
  • Plan a super fun bachelorette party.
  • Seriously revamp my wardrobe.
  • Get acquainted with my new graphics tablet and get the artsy juices flowing.
  • Read a bunch of books. Any books.
  • Start my romantic minibreak savings fund.
  • Sort through my tumblr and make/cook some of the stuff I keep posting on it.
  • Start writing more frequently on this blog.
  • Volunteer
That will be all. Happy December!

There's Something Wrong with the World Today

Last night before I went to bed I read about the 345 or more people trampled to death in a stampede in Cambodia. As I was wondering what could be worse than being trampled to death, I read about the miners in New Zealand, trapped underground with virtually no oxygen to breathe; this morning, they are probably dead. Was everyone dead before the explosion? And I wonder what that was like, watching as one by one the people around you collapsed, suffocating to death. Every day there are bombings in Pakistan, floods, earthquakes, nuclear threats, N&S Korea in a precarious situation, and you have to wonder, what the hell is going on? It's like everyone's gone mad; the people, the environment, the economy. And here we are, doing out best just to get on with our business, trying to make some sense of our existence, trying to ignore the higher powers and bigger players at work, pushing us around like pawns in their little games, and just hoping we make it through to tomorrow with our job intact and our house not underwater.

With that said though, unrelated to above events, I'm unreasonably, ridiculously happy today. In a mad, bad world, it's nice to finally find my happy place.
